Fairy Altars

This is Misty, coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey! Today I'm going to teach you how to make a faery altar. I call it an altar, you can call it a home, shrine, peace place, ect. Anyway, here we go.

First, you need a table. Any size will do, but try to get a wooden one, not metal.
Next, get some pretty rocks, like this geode and crystal.

Now, take something that reminds you of magick. I chose this enchanted angel necklace. (The enchantment is a simple protection spell, It's at the end)
Now get a jar or two.
Now get a really small plate. If you're like me, and you don't have any plates that are small enough (working on that:)), the lid to a small container will do.
Now, put out something the faeries can use, like this faery-sized acorn tea set I bought. (Sorry, I can't link you to the source, they don't have a website, or a store!)
Now get a bit of nature that you've enchanted, and that you've made pretty, like this painted rock I enchanted awhile back to attract fey. (That spell is also at the end)

Now get something pure, like this bottle of pure silver.

Now get something to represent plants and animals, like this wooden butterfly and this paper flower.
Now get something to represent faeries, like this pretty heart container of faery dust.
Now get something to represent light, like this candle. (Note: DO NOT LIGHT CANDLE UNLESS IT IS DEFINITELY SAFE TO DO SO!)
Now, take a pretty jar, and put some honeyed milk in it, as a gift or a thank-you-(if they helped with a spell or something)-for the faeries.
Now get some food, like these grapes for the same reason(s) as the milk and put them on the plate/lid. (Note: Some good things to leave for the faeries are bread, especially barley bread, and any kind of dairy. Remember to refresh them though, or else blech :P)
Add anything else meaningful to you, except bells, because faeries don't like the sound of bells, and you're done!
Now, here are those spells:
The protection spell:
With every move we make,
Comes a risk we have to take,
Protect the wearer and all her grace,'
Bring her to safety's warm embrace.

The Faery Attracting Spell:
Faeries near and faeries far,
Though I know not where you are,
Flit and flutter about with ease,
Come to me and help me please,
With all my magick and all my love,
Fly straight here like a dove,
This pretty stone I now enchant,
To bring you near when I can't.

Finally, I am now announcing the opening of my new page: The Nature Spirit Encyclopedia! In it I will list all our magickal friends, adding a new one each day. Go check it out!

Fairy Tip: Leaving honeyed milk out sometimes brings faeries to your garden, or brownies to your home!

The Magick Making Guide

This is Misty coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey!

WELCOME TO........

THE MAGICK MAKING GUIDE

Here you will learn all about what you can do, and what full-fledged nature beings can do! First, this is what a normal person with no magickal being blood in them can do:

  • Small blessings
  • Weak protection spells
  • A few more select enchantments
Very little, I'm afraid. But, luckily, most people have a least some magickal being blood in their veins. (By the way, before we go on, you should know that I rarely use the word spell, and mostly replace it with enchantment, as I feel the word spell sound rather forcing, but enchantment sounds, well, enchanting!)

Here is what the lowest-level can do. Oh, and what I call magick-users varies greatly. I could say witch, sorcerer (ess), warlock, magician, wizard, masma, mage, ect. It all depends on the situation.

  • Okay protection spells
  • Good blessings
  • A weak tracking spell
  • Conjuring a faint light
  • The simplest enchantments
  • Help plants grow a teeny bit
People with low-level magick can do:

  • Good protection spells
  • Bigger blessings
  • A fair-sized tracking spell
  • Conjure a weak light
  • The simplest enchantments and a few of the more complicated ones, although those are challenging.
  • The weakest of love enchantments
  • A few small healing enchantments
  • Help plants grow a little bit

People with not-so-low-but-not-that-high magick can do this:

  • Lovely protection spells
  • Big blessings, like blessing a whole building, that is, if it's a relativly small building ;)
  • A good tracking spell
  • Conjure a good light
  • The simplest enchantments and most of the more complicated ones
  • An okay love spell
  • Most of the weaker healing enchantments
  • Help plants grow a small amount
  • Restore the teeniest, tiniest amount of energy
  • Conjure a nice light
If you're wondering why even the fourth-level sorcerers/sorceresses still can't do much with plants or healing, and nothing with animals, it's because those are some of the hardest things to do. Unless you happen to be a great healer, or an empath, or both, then you won't be able to do much until we get to level six, and even then you have to practice. Anyway, level five witches can do:

  • Great protection spells
  • Big blessings, even being able to bless a whole school, provided it's not a particularly big one
  • A medium tracking spell
  • The simplest enchantments, all the medium ones, and a few bigger ones
  • A good love spell
  • All the weaker healing enchantments and one or two of the medium ones
  • Help plants grow an inch, at the most
  • Restore a tiny amount of energy
  • Do small spells you make up yourself
  • Conjure a good light
Okay, at this point, you can make enchantments up yourself, well, small ones at least. Anyway, at the end of this post, I'm going to put some enchantments for you to use for the more simple spells, but sometimes you can make them up yourself. They don't HAVE to rhyme, but they work better if they do. They're also easier to remember! ;D You have to remember that you won't be able to do much at first, no matter what level you are. You have to practice, and learn to control your magick before you can do anything fancy. Level six witches can do: (Note: Males can be witches too. Warlock is only for people who delve into the Black Arts, as we call them)

  • The best protection spells
  • Big blessings, like blessing a whole school
  • A lovely tracking spell
  • The simplest enchantments, all the medium ones, and about half the bigger ones
  • A great love spell
  • All the weaker healing enchantments and some of the medium ones
  • Help plants grow
  • Restore a bit of energy
  • Do small spells you make up yourself
  • Conjure a strong light
All right, moving on down to level seven witches:

  • The best protection spells
  • Big blessings, like blessing at least half a factory
  • A great tracking spell
  • The best love spells
  • The simplest enchantments, all of the medium ones, and most of the bigger ones love spell
  • All the weaker healing enchantments and half the medium ones
  • Revive plants and help them grow
  • Help animals, and understand them to an extent, maybe
  • Restore some energy
  • Do small and medium spells you make up yourself
  • Conjure a strong, bright light
Okay, now we've introduced the element of animals. You may be wondering, "Can I talk to animals now?", or maybe, "Can I get my pet to talk English?" Well, the answer to both those things are: Maybe. You see, you may, if you are level seven or higher, be able to understand simple things your pet says, like "I'm hungry", or, "I'm thirsty, or, "I'm tired". But, other than a few other things, only these will come through loud and clear, unless your an animal empath, like me. But, we'll figure that out later. (By the way, I didn't mention animals understanding you, because I've always believed that animals can understand us perfectly, without magick) Now, about making your pet or another animal talk, that is an iffy subject. First the animal has to want to talk, which doesn't happen as often as you might think. Also, the animal should be at least a little familiar with you, and you with it, because fear breaks up the enchantment. Also, the animal has to be a certain kind, because some animals don't want to talk, or the spell doesn't work on them. The best circumstances would be enchanting your pet rabbit who wants to talk. Then it MIGHT work. Maybe. Anyway, now that that's done, level eight witches can do this:

  • The best protection spells
  • Big blessings, like blessing a whole factory
  • The best tracking spells
  • The best love spells
  • All of the enchantments except for the most complicated ones
  • All the weaker healing enchantments, all the medium ones, and some of the bigger ones
  • Revive plants and help them grow
  • Help animals, and understand them to an extent, maybe
  • Restore a good amount of energy
  • Conjure a strong, shining light
  • Do spells you make up yourself
Okay, so I just realized something. We haven't addressed love spells. I personally, do not approve of love spells, because I believe forcing someone to love you or someone else if not in the spirit of magick, and just not very nice. However, some people like them, and so, here we are. By now, you can do the best love spells, which means you can do strong, long-lasting love spells. These spells can be tricky, and easily backfire, so I advise you not to come up with one yourself. I will write you up a small one at the end, to prevent too many backfires. Level nine witches can do this:

  • The best protection spells
  • Big blessings, like blessing half a big field
  • The best tracking spells
  • The best love spells
  • All the enchantments except for the most complicated ones
  • All the healing enchantments except for the strongest, most complicated ones
  • Revive plants and help them grow
  • Help animals, and understand them to an extent, maybe
  • Restore a chunk of energy
  • Conjure the strongest, brightest light
  • Do spells you make up yourself
Now, the most powerful witches-level tens-can do this:

  • The best protection spells
  • Biggest blessings, like blessing a huge field
  • The best tracking spells
  • The best love spells
  • All the enchantments
  • All the healing enchantment, but you CANNOT RESURRECT
  • Revive plants and help them grow
  • Help animals, and understand them to an extent, maybe
  • Restore a lot of energy
  • Conjure a light so bright it's like a flare
  • Do spells you make yourself
Okay, now full fledged magickal beings can do this:

  • The best pretection spells
  • The biggest blessings, like blessing a continent
  • The best tracking spells
  • The best love spells
  • All the enchantments, and more
  • All the healing enchantments, and they CAN resurrect, but they don't most of the time
  • Revive plants and help them grow huge. The magickal beings help redwoods grow, you know.
  • Help animals, and understand them perfectly
  • Restore all energy
  • Conjure a light so bright you'd think it was the sun.
  • Do spells they make up, and you make up
  • More magick that we may never know about
DONE! Whew, that was a lot of typing. Now, if you are a beginner, please do not try any spells until my next post. Okay, here's a few blessings:

Beads so fine,
Strung on a string,
Full of Beauty and Hope,
Bless each one with these three,
Safety, Love, and Joy!

All ye who enter here,
Enter boldly without fear,
All the faeries bring a blessing,
But their tricks will keep you guessing!

And a weak healing spell:

In the night,
So deadly still,
Listen to these words of will,
Don't be discouraged,
Don't fall out of grace,
Enter into dawn's embrace.

A weak love spell:

By Diana's lovely hand,
By the witch's request,
Diana, pull out your powers of love and light,
And set this distraught witch to rights.

Sorry I was late, I'll do another post to make up for it! :D

Fairy Tip:  If you torment animals and neglect plants, the fey will often be afraid of you, and hide themselves. But if you're nice to all, they might just trust you enough to show themselves. Good luck! ;)

Faery Ancestry

This is Misty coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey! Today we're going to find out if you have a faery ancestor with this quick little question session. Get ready, get set, go!

Faery Ancestry:
  • You have always had an interest in faery tales
  • You are fascinated by bubbles and seeds floating through the air
  • You have an eternally happy and positive outlook on life
  • You prefer to be in nature, and seem to draw energy from it
  • Your favorite colour was green or blue as a child
  • You are unhappy when you cannot see any nature
  • You always seem to have lots of energy at dawn and dusk, and are sometimes described as a morning or night person
  • You are incredibly curious and believe in all kinds of fey
  • You love pretty rocks and stones, especially crystals
  • You are in awe when faces with gardens or fields of bluebells and foxgloves
  • You tend toward some type of vegetarianism, and might have a sensitive digestive system
  • You love dairy and bread
  • You either live on a farm and love it, or wish you lived on one constantly
  • You love snowflakes and fall leaves and could watch them fall for hours
  • You can sense when something is off in the Eternal Balance and are maybe even a healer or an empath
  • You love animals and tend towards having pets and rescuing wild creatures
  • You seem to have a natural way with flora and fauna
Okay, so there you go, now I suggest you score yourself:

1 to 3 answers yes:
You may have a faery ancestor, but most likely just love nature, though this depends on what you answered yes to. If you answered yes to something like your favorite colour being green or blue as a child, (or, if you are a child or have always had the same fav colour, now), then you probably just like nature, but, if you answered yes to being a healer or empath, you might have a faery ancestor.

4 to 6 answers yes:
You have a faery ancestor! Though you do have one, your faery ancestor is probably very distant, and you therefore have not much faery blood, but you may be able to do a bit of faery magick, though you definitely CANNOT FLY, so don't try it.

7 to 9 answers yes:
You definitely have a faery ancestor! Yours would be not as distant, and if you answered yes to 9, you just maybe might have two. It is possible, but not very likely. You can do some faery magick, like helping a plant grow, but you CANNOT FLY, so don't try it.

10 to 12 answers yes:
You definitely have a faery ancestor! Your ancestor still distant, but just barely, and if you answered 12 yes, you probably have two faery ancestors!  You can do some faery magick, and you should probably carry some of your own faery dust around, just in case. You might be a bit of an empath, but not a strong one, although you are almost definitely a healer. You CANNOT FLY, so don't try it.

13 to 15 answers yes:
You have multiple faery ancestors! You have not-so-distant faery reletives! This means you might be an empath, and you can definitely heal. You should carry faery dust everywhere you go, and you should practice your magick carefully. However, you CANNOT FLY, so don't try it.
All 16 answers yes:
You have lots of close faery relatives! Your faery blood is strong, and you should practice your magick to get all you can out of it! I myself answered all 16 yes, and I will soon post a list of what each level can do. I don't want you to try something you can't do, and then hurt yourself! :) You are an empath, and a strong one too, and your healing is wonderful! You can do all sorts of faery magick, and should definitely learn about it, or else you could hurt yourself or those near you by accident, or by trying a spell only powerful, full-fledeged faeries can do. Of course, if you ARE a faery, then you can do even more. I'll be posting about what faeries can do and all that either later today or tomorrow.

Fairy Tip: Faeries love cowslips, bluebells, and foxglove. Having these in your garden can bring faeries like this one. More on how to bring faeries to you later. :) Bright Faerie Blessings! :)

How To Make Flower Fairies

This is Misty coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey! So, in the last post I mentioned flower fairies I made for the Craft Faire. I told you I would teach you to make them soon. (The next day is pretty soon, right?) So, I present to you, FLOWER FAERIES! Warning: These pictures do not represent all my faeries, I have many more.
Here is the first one, The Red Duchess! She's a lovely one.

Here is the second one, Marigold. (Yes, I did name them all)

Here is the third and last one, White Rose. I names her that because she has rose petals and white petals.

So there you have it, three of my faeries. If you want to know how to make them, keep reading. If not, leave now and continue on your journey through the tutorial, down to the fairy song I posted at the bottom. All right, here we go!
First, take some white pipe cleaners.

Then, grab some scissors.

Use the scissors to cut a small piece off a pipe cleaner.

Then, fold the bigger part in half. This may take a few tries your first time because it has to be even, and  it likes to spring back at you while you're folding it. How rude!

Next, fold up the ends a teeny bit for feet.

Then, take some silk flowers. I like to get them from Michael's, but you can use any kind, really.

Then, pull a big flower off the stem. This is easy to do, just grad the flower head, and pull.

Then, take it apart, piece by piece, until it looks like this.

Do the same thing with a rose, and take the little whatever-it-is out and put it on. Make sure you've got the folds pushed all the way together, or it won't go on.

Then, put a petal from the first flower on after that.

Then a petal from the rose.

This is when I usually flip the fairy over, and lengthen it's feet into legs. Just unfold the feet, and then fold them again, only a longer fold. This can be tricky, as the things you've put on will try to fall off. Don't get frustrated, they're just obeying gravity. (You can get mad a gravity, though. :))

After putting the rest of the petals on, take the small piece and make arms. Position it against the body where  it's even, and then twist the ends around to hold it on. This can also be tricky, as often the arms are hard to hold in place, or are uneven. In fact, this is probably the hardest step in the process.

If you wish, you can  put something in her hand, like this little torch that was in the center of the rose.

Next, take some white flowers and put them on on top of the arms. Then, take the thing that were holding the green (lily?) together, and put it on.
Finally, put a wooden bead on as a head, and then  put on the thing that was holding the rose together on top as a hat. You're done! Remember, don't try to draw a face, because, whether or not the face is well drawn, it will make your fairy not as pretty and elegant. Many people have made this mistake, but if you really want to, then  you can go ahead a put a face on. Maybe it won't be so bad.
Well, that was fun. I hope you enjoy making faeries, and remember, They don't all have to look like this one. Now for the fairy song!

Dancing, dancing, round the tree,
Oh, how joyous we shall be,
As the branches swing,
We'll rise up and sing,
Dancing, Dancing, round the tree,
Oh, how joyous we shall be!

Fairy Tip: Faeries love to sing, so listen for it! Also, sing yourself, they love hearing you sing too!

Another Real Story, A Blessing, And My Newest Faery Tale!

This is Misty, coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey! So, awhile back, something happened to me that was amazing, but a little freaky. I don't know if any of you have ever seen my other blog, but I am a gamer, and sometimes I do LARP, or Live Action Role-Playing. Well, I was doing it awhile ago, and I was pretending to feel uneasy right over where someone was supposedly buried alive. (only in the game, of course), and I suddenly get this pounding headache and fall down! I got the headache again whenever I was on that spot, and it went away when I left. So, either I was getting way into the part, or there was some magick going on. It did make my performance even better though! ;)

By the way, I'm sorry I haven't been posting, but I was busy crafting for the Craft Faire. I sell little faeries and enchanted jewelry. (It's only a small blessing though. The words are below) Anyway, The fairies are made with silk flowers, wooden beads, and pipe cleaners. Soon I'll post how to make them and a few pics. Maybe I'll be able to find the fairy queen......

The words to the blessing:

Beads so fine,
Strung on a string,
Full of Beauty and Hope,
Bless each with these three,
Safety, Love, and Joy!

Okay, at the Craft Faire, a friend told me about a magazine that publishes short stories. "Stone Soup" (the title is from a fairy tale, you should read it) Anyway, I will possibly get some stories in there, but I don't know. Therefore, I will post my latest story here. :) Here goes!

One day two sisters, Lily and Rose, went for a walk in the forest. They began to sing this song.

Oh, here we are, a-walking through the woodland,
Filled with flowers sweet,
Pick one, pick three, aren't the lovely?

Now, Lily's favorite flower was roses, but she dared not pick any, saying the fey would punish her if she did. Rose, however, laughed and picked all of the lilies, as they were her favorite flower. The Lily Faery was angry, as she now had no lilies left. She flew up to the girls and asked their names. Frightened that she would face the faery's wrath, Rose said nothing. However, Lily, knowing she had done nothing wrong, replied. "My name is Lily, and my sister here is Rose. Now, the fairy bid them come to faeryland, and they did. The faeries, believing the names indicated their favored flowers, welcomed Rose, and gave her the best treatment, as no roses had been picked. Lily, however, was cast into the dungeon in disgrace, and no matter how many times she told them she did not pick a single flower, they always asked, "Then who took all the lilies away?", and Lily did not wish her sister to be put in a dungeon, so she never answered. Rose, on the contrary, gave Lily to the fairies, saying, "I told her not to pick them", as she was afraid of the dungeons. And so the fairies didn't know that pretty little, kind-hearted Lily was the innocent one, and the pretty little, laughing Rose was guilty. Finally, tired of her haughty, moody ways, the fairies sent her away to home, but she wouldn't go, and locked herself in her room. In the meantime, the fey had been getting very close to little Lily, and soon could barely believe she could have taken the flowers away. Then one day when they asked her why, she said, "But I didn't, I wouldn't!" one faery asked, "I wonder at why, though you picked all the lilies, when we ask you if you want for something, you just say, one rose." To which Lily replied, "Because roses are my favorite flower." Then the fairies asked what Rose's favored flower was, she said, "Lilies of course!" And then the fairies, realizing their mistake, cried, "We must throw her in the dungeon!" "Oh no!" Lily cried "Please do not, I beg you, just let her go! I'll make it up to you, I promise, just let my sister go!" "After the way she treated you?" the faeries asked. "After she laughed as you cried, lied as you told the truth, and didn't even try a rescue?" But Lily persisted, and the fairies sighed. They let the sisters go, and they went back home, after so much time, and then Lily said to Rose, "After the way you treated me, you have a price to pay, give me all of your lily seeds. And Rose, who no longer cared for flowers, gave them willingly, and the Lily took them and planted them all in a ring around faeryland. Then she nurtured them every day, and when they had grown and bloomed out their glory, the faeries aid to her. "You are nice to those who were mean to you, and fix others mistakes, you took imprisonment with a cheerful smile, and never picked a bloom. Please, come to live with us, we beseech you!" And so Lily agreed, and went to live there, and Rose lived alone in her house.

Whew! That took forever to type! I hope you liked it! Faery blessings to you all!

Fairy Tip: The fey love sweet substances, like jam and jelly, (yes, they are different), so try leaving some out for them, they'll really appreciate it!

A Remarkable Sight, And My Faery Quest

This is Misty, coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey! Today I have a story to share with you all. Yesterday, I had an encounter with the fey. I was looking out my window, down on some flowers, when I saw a little flower fairy flitting about, chased by a mischievous pixie. As soon as they saw me watching, they dove into the bush, and I didn't see them again. I thought I would tell you about this, because it was very exciting! I have found pictures that slightly resemble the two little faeries.
This is the flower fairy I saw. Isn't she pretty?
This is the pixie I saw.  :D
So there you have it. I also have something else to report. In the interest of deepening my connection to the fey, and get them to trust me, I have made a list of everything I can do to put them at ease.
  • Be nice to all animals.
  • Leave water and bits of bread out for them, along with a little fairy bath.
  • Make a garden to attract fairies.
  • Be kind to everyone.
  • Don't intrude on the fairies before they're comfortable with me.
  • Keep the cats away from where fairies might be.
  • Be calm and quiet at all times.
Maybe, if I follow all these things, the fairies might trust me enough to show themselves. I hope so. Well, more on that later, now I'll leave you, and wish you well on your own quests to seek out the fey.

Fairy Tip: Being grumpy and mean to flora and fauna alike will scare the fairies away from you, perhaps forever. So be careful, and be kind to all, including plants!

Clay Fey, Yay!

This is Misty, coming to you from the this mystical land we share with the fey! Today I was suddenly filled with the intense need to sculpt. Alas, I had no clay! So, I went online and, using my trusty sidekick, Google, I looked at pictures of clay fairies all day. I'm still doing it, actually....

Well, anyway. I found a few photos that were two pretty to pass up! If you were thinking about trying to sculpt a fairy, as I was, these beauties will certainly decide you. However, be warned that your first attempts will likely not look like this, but more like a horribly disfigured troll. Do not lose heart, my friend, for the fairies love it when people believe in them and portray them with sculpting or another form of art. They will aid you on your quest, and ensure your success eventually!
This little sweetie is so trusting, she'll sit in your hand!

Who would be so cruel as to capture such a beauty and keep her locked away?

I loved this one so much, I printed it out and taped it to my computer!

I believe this fair fey is modeled after a real fairy.....

So, there you have it, my favorites! Of course, you may have different tastes, so feel free to search clay fairies in Google, and click on the picture results!

Fairy Tip: Fey are very shy, but if you are kind to them, they might show themselves. More about getting fairies to trust you will be in the next post.

What To Expect In This Realm

This is Misty, coming to you from this mystical land we share with the fey! Here, in my Mystical Me blog, I'll enlighten you with these tried-and-true methods:

  • Pictures  of fairies big and small, you'll feel like you're at a fairy ball!
  • All the the different kinds of fairies, gather 'round to hear my stories!
  • Things I do because I believe, these things are told to you by me!
  • Songs and dances of the fey, maybe you'll hear one on a clear day!
  • Crafts to bring the fairies in, sing as you sew, weave, and spin!
  • Everything else I tell today, will bring the fairies your way!
So that's it, and thanks for reading, here's a tip for you're trouble. (Note: A tip will be at the end of every post. Have fun!)

Fairy Tip: The fairies pinch the toes of people who leave their houses messy, so keep it clean, those pinches hurt!
