The Nature Spirit Encyclopedia

Welcome! This is the Nature Spirit Encyclopedia, and our first fey-friend is the brownie.

Brownie:

Brownies are nice, and, in exchange for a light and a bowl of honeyed milk being set out for them every night, they will do chores around the house. Don't try to give them more, or spy on them, because they'll get offended-(Which is easy to do, unfortunately)-and run off. Also, if you're already giving them something more than honeyed milk, if you stop, they will run off. Don't try to thank them either, even the smallest thanks offends them. You have to be careful with brownies, but, if they befriend you, they'll be faithful forever, so long as you play by the rules. Overall, they're helpful little friends!


Dragons:

Dragons are fierce creatures, and they don't especially like people. There are many types of dragon: Acid Dragon, Fire Dragon, Ice Dragon, Mud Dragon, Water Dragon, ect. Incredibly intimidating and regal in appearance, they love having a hoard. However, despite some myths, dragons do not just collect jewels and gold, but also anything else they favor. They also don't really like passing their time my enslaving pretty young maidens. Though dragons are distrustful of all but their own kind, if you befriend a dragon, they'll stick by you forever. Dragons are one of my favorite creatures, and I believe that they aren't extinct, they're still out there......


Mermaids:

Mermaids are portrayed as nice, or not so nice. I think that, like faeries, mermaids are good and evil. The ones in this picture may seem harmless, but they might be sirens, mermaids who make sailors leap off their boats with their beautiful singing. They are often said to be spotted sitting on rocks in the ocean, combing their long, beautiful locks. They are not as good at hiding as faeries, or they just don't care, because many a person have said they saw one. If you see one, you're either lucky, or quite observant.


Dryad:

Dryads are forest spirits that protect the trees and are in fact the trees. Forests spirits are distrustful of humans, (probably because we cut trees down all the time), and so you will never see one out of disguise. (By the way, Dryads are not the same as Tree Nymphs)
